Assam tea is a black tea named after the region of its production, Assam, India. It is manufactured specifically from the plant Camellia sinensis var assamica . The Assam tea plant is indigenous to Assam—initial efforts to plant the Chinese varieties in Assam soil did not succeed Assam tea is now mostly grown at lower altitude and is known for its body, briskness, malty flavour and strong bright colour. Assam teas, or blends containing caffeine, are often sold as "breakfast" teas. For instance, Irish breakfast tea, a maltier and stronger breakfast tea, is made with Assam tea leaves. Assam tea region is known for producing CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) variety of teas. Popular grades produced in Assam include the whole leaf, broken leaf, fannings, and dust. Of these, only the latter three can be produced via CTC method and leg cut manufacturing process. The black teas produced in this region are renowned globally for their strong, bold, brisk, malty flavors and dark liquor, making it an ideal pick for a breakfast tea.

Brewing Advice:
- Use 1 teaspoon per cup / Small teapot (2-3 Teaspoon)
- Can use strainer
- Heat water to roughly 95°C/203°F
- Pour boil water into the cup on top of the tea leaves
- Steep for 2-4 minutes and enjoy
- Best with a dash of milk
